CRITERIA The World War I Victory Medal was awarded for military service during the First World War. It was awarded for active service between April 6, 1917, and November 11, 1918; for service with the American Expeditionary Forces in European Russia between November 12, 1918, and August 5, 1919; or for service with the American Expeditionary Forces in Siberia between November 23, 1918, and April 1, 1920. The following battle clasps, inscribed with a battle’s name, were worn on the medal to denote participation in major ground conflicts. Aisne (May 27 to June 5, 1918). Here is a World War I US Victory Medal. The Medal was US Army as it features a pair of Campaign Bars. These are Aisne – Marne and Defensive Sector. It is named to Galen B Joyce and though the Medal is not struck with a number the receipt has the Medal’s US Army Quartermaster Depot registered number: 1,214,557. Given the Aisne – Marne Campaign the soldier may have been wounded and recovered in the Defensive Sector. The group includes the Medal with Campaign Bars, Box, Envelope and Receipt with data dated 1935 The Medal itself was made just after the War and was in inventory. The Medal, Box and Documents are in about fair to fair condition and range from 85 to 102 years old. WWI US Army, Navy, Marines Medals, Ribbons, Award. US Army Victory Medal, Box, Documents including Receipt. Grouping Named, Medal assigned a Number. Everything is legible, early Pin Back, Box intact. Patina, Bars, Pin Mount heavily tarnished.
