Up for sale here is a fantastic lot of original Marine Aircraft Group 33 (MAG-33) and Marine Air Base Squadron 33 (MABS-33) World War II and Korean War memorabilia. Included in this listing is his WW2 USMC coat and trousers. The coat has some medals and bars as well as the collar brass and a tie clip attached to the collar. Santarone’s name is inside the right sleeve near the shoulder seam. It is in excellent condition with no buttons missing. The trousers are button fly, with no buttons missing. It is stamped in the waistband 4S, Perfect Trouser Co. Santarone is on a tag in the waistband. The hat still have the insignia on the front. It is a size 7 1/8. The liner is loose. There are 2 framed 8″ x 10″ photos, 102 loose photos & 1 Korean War theater made hand painted photo album containing 110 photos. The album is in excellent condition. Both groups of photos are of scenes such as soldier base, barrack, and leave life, Korean villagers and children, Korean market and temple, and entertainment such as dancing and shows at local venues and bars. There is one page in the album of an event where professional local dancers performed. One of the photos is topless. There are two pairs of WW2 era dog tags. There is a hand painted wooden plaque listing soldiers in the MABS 33 Marine Air Base Squadron 33 including Santarone’s name as well as a hand painted wooden desk name plate with his name. There are 4 dinner menus, three from MAG-33 Marine Aircraft Group 33 while in Korea (2 Christmas of 1954 and 1 Nov 10th, 1954 of the dinner commemorating the 179th Anniversary of the Marine Corps) and the fourth is from Christmas Day Dinner in 1953 Marine Corps Schools in Quantico. (1) original charcoal sketch of Santarone made during WW2 in Okinawa. (1) USMC Certificate of Good Conduct. (2) US Armed Forces Separation Forms (stapled together). (1) USMC Certificate of Honorable & Satisfactory Service in WW2, (1) Presidential Unit Citation for the 1st Marine Division for extraordianry heroism against Japanese forces in the invasion and capture of the Okinawa Shima, Ryuku Islands from April 1 to June 21, 1945 and signed by Secretary of the Navy John C. (7) wallet cards: (1) Honorable discharge, (1) Certificate of Service USMC Korea, (1) USMC Certificate of Service WW2, (2) Domain of Neptunus Rex WW2, and (2) Domain of the Golden Dragon Korea. According to his obituary, Santarone. Was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 31, 1925. He served as a corporal in the 1st Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan during WWII (1943-46) and the Korean War (1953-56). From the 1960s to the 1980s, Dom and his late wife, Ruth, owned a catering company where they worked out of Hollywood, “on location, ” providing meals to cast and crew during the filming of more than 50 movies and television shows.
