Rank bar, Cap Insignia, and more to Lt. After the war he served with VR-2 for a time until discharged. He remained in the naval reserves upon his return to civilian life in Missouri. He was promoted from Ensign to Lt j. He was entitled to the American Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He may be entitled to other awards. Interesting small group which needs more research to fully document his career. Group on naval insignia and awards including: pinback Naval Cap Insignia from H&H in well used box. Sterling marked clutch back Lt. Jg rank insignia with replaced post war clutches, pinback 1 1/2 wide American Campaign & World War II Victory ribbons, small clutch back naval aviator pilot wings (I believe this to have been post war circa 1950s). These could have been worn on a cap, lapel or mess dress. Three documents including two promotion documents and the WWII accolade for service from President Truman. Letter to Young from his mother while stationed with VR-2 at Alameda, CA. Letter discusses her happiness at hearing from him and that his sister has measles. Also includes four b/w photos. The are duplicates of each other and include Young on the beach in California and in his Khaki’s. Naval Cap Insignia/Ribbon Bar/Rank/Wings/documents/letters/photo show normal wear/tear associated with age. This includes toning of insignia, fading of ribbon, toning of documents, damage to some letters/documents in form of corner bumps, tears, edge bends, writing. I have noted a storage smell like jet exhaust. All items may show minor age related defects but otherwise sound. Normal wear and tear associated with age.
