This is a guaranteed original WW1 Australian medal pair to an aussie digger who was wounded in action. These medals were awarded to him after serving in France with the famous 7th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. Both medals are named to Extra Regimental (ER) Corporal Robert Paine , 7 Btn AIF. He arrived in England in November 1916. While serving in the 7th Battalions frontline trenches in July 1918 near Mont de Merris (after already having been in the trenches of northern France for over a year – since April 1917), he received a shell wound to his face , which put him in out of action for 2 months. I have not replaced the ribbons on this set as these ribbons are original and have never been separated from the medals before. I’m always listing more authentic militaria from around the world!
