Original British Army Military Medal (MM), World War 1, Northamptonshire Reg

A very good condition Military Medal (MM) dating to the First World War, with case (probably not the original case). Medal is correctly named to Private Albert Edward Huddison (from Newton Abbot), 40872, 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. His name appears in the London Gazette dated 6th August 1918. Albert was born in 1898 and enlisted on the 22 September 1915 and was awarded the Silver War Badge No. 246573 after being wounded while serving overseas. He married Elsie in 1920 and appears to have spent his whole life in Newton Abbot. He worked as a railway engine driver and fire-man both before and after the war. He appears to have been disciplined a couple of times while working on the railways, once for being drunk and disorderly and again for refusing the drive his engine any further as his fireman was “too inexperienced”!! Albert died in 1966 in Newton Abbot. See my other auctions for more Militaria, original and reproduction.
