Original full sized First World War medal trio and memorial plaque awarded to Private Albert Edward Beaumont who served during the Great War with the 18th Battalion – London Regiment (London Irish Rifles). He was killed in action on 2nd July 1915 and is remembered with honour at Mazingarbe Communal Cemetery. Albert Beaumont was born in 1882 and from West Southbourne, Bournemouth. At the outbreak of war he was working in Belgium, his two identity papers are included. On the reverse of one of the papers is written’ The Bourgmestre (Major) of the city of Ghent certifies that Mr Beaumont Edward is a British subject, that he is a perfect gentleman and that he would be of service as interpreter.
