Australian WW2 Medals – Gnr A. Robertson – 2/7th Field Regiment – North Africa. On offer is a very collectable WW2 medal group (full entitlement) for a gunner who saw action with the 2/7th Field Regiment in North Africa. The group of five medals are named to SX4819 A. Andrew Jamieson Robertson was a farm labourer who was born in Falkirk, Scotland on 4 June 1907. He moved to South Australia and enlisted in the A. After training in Palestine Robertson was involved in actions in North Africa (including Libya), against the Germans and Italians, mainly near Mersah Matruh. In early July 1942 he was involved in actions near El Alamein, then the pursuit to El Daba. He was discharged at Wayville, South Australia on 5 October 1945. His claim for war related illnesses was accepted by the Australian Repatriation Commission in October 1945 and in 1950 Robertson was employed by the Department of Works & Housing near Woomera, South Australia. Andrew Robertson died on 21 October 1990 and is buried at the Strathalbyn Cemetery, South Australia.
