Australian WW1 – Medal Trio + Gallipoli Plaque J. Taylor 17 Bn A. On offer is a very collectable set of items, belonging to a former member of the 17th Bn A. Who served in Gallipoli and the Western Front. James Horace Taylor was born to Miriam and Alfred Forest Wiltshire Taylor in 1896 at Clifton , New South Wales. He enlisted as No 382 (amended from 1308) in the 17th Battalion A. On 19 November 1914 and embarked for Egypt on 12 May 1915. He was moved to Gallipoli and served there until October 1915, when he was evacuated to Malta due to illness. He was sent to England before moving to the Western Front, finishing the war with the rank of Acting Sergeant. He died at Point Vernon, Queensland in 1976, age 80. The lot on offer comprises James Taylor’s medal trio (court mounted), his cased Gallipoli plaque (medallion) with original award certificate, photos of Taylor during WW1 and in later life, a printed copy of his WW1 service record and some family research (Ancestry.
