Genuine full size cased ANZAC Commemorative Medallion correctly engraved E. Enoch Francis Nicholls was born in St. Helens Tasmania and enlisted in the A. F on the 30/01/1915. His service number was 2055 and he was taken on strength with the 12th Battalion at Gallipoli on the 16/06/1915. He was evacuated from Gallipoli suffering from Enteric and later transferred to the 1st Australian Divisional Signal Company. In 1918 whilst serving as a Lance Corporal with the Signal Company he was recommended for the Military Medal. His citation states. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at HERVILLY on 17th/18th September, 1918. Lance Corporal NICHOLLS worked continuously patrolling and mending lines under heavy shell fire, and by his excellent work enabled communication to be maintained throughout. He set a splendid example to his men. Source:’Commonwealth Gazette’ No. Enoch survived the war and again volunteered for WW2 with service number T34309.
