This is a World War One medal, and World War One began in 1914 and ended in 1918 – 100 years ago. Purple Heart Medal with official government engraving to William Shearer for wounds suffered in World War 1 (WWI). Shearer served as a Sergeant in Company I, 107th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division. He was wounded in action on September 29, 1918, probably during the Somme Offensive. This is an officially government engraved purple heart. Shearer also received a Silver Star, but I do not have his Silver Star Medal. This is an American Emblem Company enameled medal with split wrap brooch. The medal is numbered 53362 Both medal and ribbon are in good condition. The ribbon drape shows some wear as you can see in the pictures. Included with the medal is the following documentation. A copy of his AGO card for his Purple Heart. A copy of his AGO card for his Silver Star. A copy of a paragraph from the history of the 107th showing his citation for the Silver Star. This will be packed securely to arrive safely.
