W ORLD WAR II UNITED STATES NAVY & MARINE CORPS HEROISM MEDAL, W/ FULL WRAP BROOCH. RE-RIBBONED DRAPE TESTED U. The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the highest non-combat decoration awarded for heroism by the United States Department of the Navy to the members of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. The medal was established by an act of Congress on 7 August 1942. As the senior non-combat award for heroism, this award hinges on the actual level of personal “life threatening” risk experienced by the awardee. For heroic performance to rise to this level it must be clearly established that the act involved very specific life-threatening risk to the awardee. During the mid-20th century, the Navy and Marine Corps Medal has been awarded instead of the Silver or Gold Lifesaving Medal, for sea rescues involving risk to life. This is due primarily to the creation of a variety of additional military decorations that are often considered more prestigious than the Lifesaving Medal. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you! The item “WWII U. S. NAVY & MARINE CORPS HEROISM MEDAL FULL WRAP BROOCH U. S. MINT WW2″ is in sale since Friday, May 24, 2019. WW1 Mint boxed medal trio 8th Gordon Highlanders Wounded Battle of Loos

A good example of an original WW1 mint medal trio, in packets and boxes of issue, with two letters and photographs. John Forsyth 8th Gordon Highlanders, a soldier in the new army that would of been fighting at the Battle of Loos (25th September 1915). Forsyth was wounded during thr battle of Loos and continued serving in the 8th Gordon Highlanders, subsequently joining the 10th battalion, making the 8/10th battalion. John Forsyth landed with the 8th battalion on the 10th May 1915 at Boulogne, before heading into battle, at Loos. Group comes with an interesting photograph of the Gordon Highlanders. It appears to be a stretcher bearer unit. John Forsyth could have possibly been a stretcher bearer throughout the War in France and Flanders. Medals coorectly impressed -”S-1826 PTE J. Letters give Forsyth’s address of 16 Glebe Park, Kircaldy (Scotland). Any questions please feel free to ask. WW2 Soviet Mongolia Khalkhin Gol Badge Medal 1939 Russian Battle vs Japan MINT

Mongolian Khalkhin Gol Medal (aka Medal for the Battle at Khalkin Gol). GUARANTEED 100% ORIGINAL badge manufactured in the Soviet Union in 1946 and awarded to one of the participants of the 1939 battle this is not a replica or reissue! The badge is made in brass with silver plating and hot-baked enamels of typical high Soviet quality. Measures 38.2 mm in height from the bottom to the top of the 12 o’clock point of the banner (not including the flagpole finial), 37.3 mm in width; weighs 15.9 grams not including the screw plate. This is Sub-variation 1, featuring a relatively smooth ornamental edge. Fine quality of this badge is very characteristic of the Soviet Mint manufacture. The badge is in SUPERB, NEAR MINT CONDITION extremely unusual for Soviet or Mongolian badges of this vintage. The enamel is essentially flawless. There are a couple of microscopic contact marks that can be found under 10x magnifying glass, but they are completely invisible to the naked eye. The enamel shows magnificent original luster everywhere. The details of the cavalryman and his horse are perfect and extremely crisp, and all of the original silver plating is still completely intact. The silver finish on the reverse is likewise perfect. The screw post is full length, approx. 13.5 mm, and includes original screw plate with Soviet mint logo. To reiterate, we simply havent seen a better example of this badge in 25-odd years of doing business. The badge was awarded for participation in the series of battles against the Japanese Kwantung Army in Manchuria in 1939. In western press and Japan the campaign was referred to a Nomonhan Incident. Although its outcome greatly impacted the course of world events for years to come, it was soon largely forgotten due to the outbreak of WW2 later that year. The battle was the first engagement between two modern motorized forces on open terrain, both assisted by air forces. The Japanese aviation was initially more successful but was then inexplicably grounded possibly because the top Japanese leadership in Tokyo was lukewarm about the campaign to begin with, and basically allowed the increasingly uncontrollable Kwantung Army command to fail. The decisive Soviet victory cleared the road for Japan to make peace with the USSR and switch to the “southern advance” – thus setting it for the war with the US and eventual demise. In late 1941, this peace agreement allowed the Soviet Union to safely transfer troops from the Far East for the defense of Moscow at the most critical period of the war. The battle is also memorable for giving a meteoric rise to the career of Marshal Zhukov, the supreme commander of the Soviet forces at Khalkhin Gol. Many historians now consider the battle of Khalhin Gol the true starting point of WW2! The Khalkhin Gol Badge was awarded to both Mongolian and Soviet s who had participated in the battle. Some were awarded prior to the Patriotic War (Variation 1), while the flat-back version was issued after the war to those who had not received the badge earlier. The award was deemed so important that it was later upgraded in rank to be considered a medal. According to the research by Khuujii, all the Variation 2 Badges, 5504 in total, were manufactured in 1946. Ww2 Genuine Mint Condition Offical Issue Arctic Star Medal

Fantastic 100 % genuine issue ARCTIC Star in labelled transit box with award certificate and original letter of issue from the MOD Medal Office to JX359882 STANLEY HAMPTON RN. These will be rarer than the coveted ACE star, there are many copies but this is the real deal with nice, clear and crisp production with a flat centre not raised as in the copies. I handle many stars and this looks and feels great. Copies are made from a brass alloy and are yellow in colour with a flimsy cheap suspender ring. This is made as the WW2 stars were made from a copper alloy and has pinkish tinge to it. Included are his original WW2 medal entitlement in Transit box and Admiralty award certificate, there is a more recent MOD medal office confirmation as to his full entitlement: 1939-45, Italy Stars, Defence and war Medals all on original silk ribbons. There are two other metal badges and official Mine Sweeping Anti Submarine Service (sewn on type not pinned) and a unofficial 60th anniversary of the battle of the Atlantic veteran badge. There are a few letters of correspondence between the family and the medal office. I don’t know much about this chap he served with the Mediterranean fleet 28th Anti Submarine group and obviously made those harsh and perilous journeys on the Russian convoys. Thank you for looking.
