A VERY NICE EMOTIVE COMPLETE GROUP OF MEDALS AND ITEMS BELONGING TO PRIVATE CHARLES JARVIS WHO DIED OF WOUNDS IN JANUARY 1917 AS A RESULT OF ACTION IN FRANCE ON THE SOMME. CONSISTS OF HIS WAR AND VICTORY MEDAL CORRECTLY NAMED (MID CONFIRMS THIS IS HIS FULL ENTITLEMENT) HIS DEATH PLAQUE IN AN OAK DISPLAY FRAME. HIS PHOTOGRAPH IN OAK FRAME. COPPER CAMBRIDGESHIRE SCHOOL ATTENDANCE MEDAL. GOLD COLOUR GEORGE V PENDANT WITH THE LORDS PRAYER ON REVERSE. SOLID GOLD 9CT RING ENGRAVED INSIDE FROM C JARVIS. HIS SERVICE POCKET BIBLE. ORIGINAL ROYAL SUSSEX REGIMENT CAP BADGE WITH MAKERS MARK TO SLIDER. ALL THE ABOVE OBVIOUSLY HIS DEAD MANS EFFECTS SENT HOME TO HIS NEXT OF KIN. I HAVE DONE A SMALL AMOUNT OF RESEARCH. HE SERVED WITH THE 7TH BN ROYAL SUSSEX REGIMENT AS PART OF KITCHENERS NEW ARMY. HE ENLISTED AT BEDFORD AND LIVED IN A SMALL VILLAGE HAMERTON HUNTS CAMBRIDGESHIRE. HE DIED OF WOUNDS AT HOME AS A RESULT OF FIGHTING WITH THE 12TH EASTERN DIVISION ON THE SOMME. FIRST SEEING ACTION ON 2ND JULY 1916 AT LA BOSSEILLE, MOUQUET FARM AND BUTTE DE WALLENCOURT. HE WAS WOUNDED AT ONE OF THESE ACTIONS DURING JULY OR AUGUST AND WAS SENT HOME WHERE HE DIED OF WOUNDS ON THE 17TH JANUARY 1917 IN HOSPITAL IN LEICESTER. HIS BODY WAS SENT HOME AND HE IS BURIED IN HIS VILLAGE CHURCH WITH HIS MOTHER AND FATHER. HE WAS SHOWN AS A FARM LABOURER PRIOR TO ENLISTMENT. HE WAS ONLY 20 YEARS OF AGE. A VERY INTERESTING COMPLETE GROUP TO A BRAVE YOUNG MAN WORTHY OF MORE RESEARCH. Thank you for checking my sales page. WW1 Medals Papers 1914 Death Plaque. Coldstream Guards Hunts & Essex Connection. This is a collection of papers along with a death plaque and medals. Alfred Wootten of the Coldstream Guards died 1st October 1914 at the age of 29. Alfred was born in Somersham Huntingdonshire (now Cambridgeshire), enlisted in Lincoln and died of his wounds in France and Flanders, 1. His wife Flo lived in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. This collection would be a great research project. Some of the papers may not relate to Alfred but to his family but were all in an envelope with the medals and plaque. Named to Alfred Wootten, no papers, envelope etc. Named on the edge to 6995 Pte A. Comes with no papers / box but a long piece of ribbon which may be original. Silver British War Medal. Copy Medal Index Card. Not a good print out, seems to show that Alfred should have three medals, the Star is not present. States the qualifying date was 12.8.14. Including a Field Service Post Card dated 4 SP 14, 1909 wedding wishes postcard, 1905 Xmas card showing a man, Alfred maybe? Including 1939 registration card for an Alfred Frank Wootten possible son? Arras Bullecourt Flanders 1917 Gale & Polden Christmas card signed Alfred. Letter of condolence regarding Alfreds death. An undated letter from Alfred to his mother regarding whats generally happening to him etc. Its very hard to read but could be very interesting when fully read. Letter from IWGC regarding cemetery registers. I will leave you to decide; please look at the photos carefully. I think the general condition is of the medals and death plaque are good used collectable for the age. The papers are in used collectable condition. There are a lot of creases, bends, folds, tears etc. The Xmas card is in better condition. The IWGC letter has split in two. Screen shots will not be printed and sent. Remember to send your.
