Offered is a group of 3 medals to Flight Sergeant Alfred Daniel, who served in both world wars, seeing service with the Royal Navy Air Service, Royal Flying Corps & Royal Air Force. Whilst he was lucky enough to be award a Mention in Despatches during WW2, he also passed away shortly after being discharged. The group includes British War Medal (1914 -20) impressed named F. British War & Defence Medals (1939 -45) un named as issued with mentioned in despatches emblem. Court mounted for display. Comes with original medal award slip to FLIGHT SERGEANT A. F service papers London Gazette. D London Gazette 14. Alfred Edward Daniel was born 25. July 1896 in St Pancras, London. A motor mechanic by trade he joined the Royal. Naval Air Service on the 2. November 1916 for the duration of the war (motor mechanic was not a common trade in 1916). He served at the following R. S bases in England: Bristol, Christal Palace, Westgate (Seaplanes), Kelling h? Up to the 31. On 1 April 1918, the R. Was merged with the R. To form the Royal Air Force and Leading Air Mechanic Daniel became part of the R. He was possibly working on the Sunbeam bomber prototype trial, his service records note Sunbeams, Westgate 20/5/1918. He was posted to 219 Squadron 21/2/1919, the squadron was formed in August 1918, by merging No. 442, 555, 556 and 470 Flights. It operated a mixture of aircraft, including seaplanes, Airco DH. 9 bombers, and Sopwith Camel fighters, and was responsible for the defence of the Thames Estuary. Promoted to Sgt Fitter 1/1/1919 & posted to India 6/11/1919, he discharged 7/9/1921 on termination of enlistment. Flight Sergeant Daniel enlisted into the R. Reserve on the 1. April 1939 at Cardington with his occupation Engine fitter. He was mentioned in despatches in the London Gazette 14. June 1945 with the rank of Flight Sergeant. Flight Logs are classified photocopies of the original target flight logs, which i assume the originals belong to the US Army. All 3 copies are the same. Comes with Consolidated Liberator certification award, original photograph of the B-24 Bomber, Original Hat with a block of wood housing various Pins and Medals (4 rank ribbon pins, one likely silver leaf pin, and 4 air force pins, one is broken). Included with an article and related paper stuff. These artifacts belonged to Captain Robert Moriarty of the 745th Bomb Squadron, of the 456 Bomb Group. The artifacts were dated around the summer of 1944 in Stornara Italy. Many of the goods i sell are vintage and antique, please note when stuff gets old it becomes more fragile and delicate. Accidentally killed medal group of 3 attributed to Flight Sergeant Corby. 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; War Medal 39-45 with Mentioned in Despatches clasp. All unnamed as issued; with Mentioned in Despatches certificate to 561526 Flight Sergeant G. CORBY Royal Air Force 10/3/1040. Copy London Gazette 20/2/1940 M. Copy log from Oban (Scotland) 20/2/19140 reporting on the crash of flying boat whilst attempting to land. Flight Sergeant Corby was drowned and his body recovered. Medals are court mounted for display. George Arthur Corby was born in Rutlandshire on the 23/4/1912. He joined the R. On the 23/4/1930 and was a Flight Sergeant pilot with 209 Squadron based at Oban flying Lerwick 1 Flying boats. 20/2/1940 when returning from convoy escort duty L7253 (WQ-G) Made an emergency touchdown in the Firth of Lorn, 5 miles west of Oban. A wing float broke off as it touched down, the aircraft rolled upside down and four crew died. He was 27 years old. The Saro Lerwick flying boat was only in service for just over 1 year. 21 were built the last one being delivered in May 1941 and they were declared obsolete in 1942. They had a poor service record and a high accident rate; of 21 aircraft, 10 were lost to accidents and one for an unknown reason. We list militaria and coins weekly. FLIGHT JACKET IS IN USED CONDITION, THERE ARE FLAWS ON JACKET. JACKET IS STIFF AND DRY BUT NOT CRUMBLING APART, IT IS STILL ACCEPTABLE FOR DISPLAY ON MANNEQUIN. HOLES ARE LOCATED IN THE WAIST ELASTIC. ZIPPER HAS SOME ISSUES AS WELL AND DOES COME OFF. ALL UNIFORMS ARE NAMED TO VETERAN. IN PHOTO HE IS IN THE SECOND ROW TOP LEFT CORNER WEARING HIS JACKET. Up for sale is this lot of WW2 Military items that belonged to Bryson P. Berry who served as Mayor of Enid Oklahoma from 1957 to 1961, he also owned Enid’s Yellow & Checker Cab Co. Bryson was born April 8th, 1911and died March 17th, 1989 Bryson Berry passed away in Enid, Oklahoma at the age of 77. From all of the items present it looks like Bryson was a member of the Army Air Corps/ Air Transport Command/ 91st Ferrying Squadron. His military id number is 38564401, he was discharged on March 13th 1946. One of the items in this lot is a 91st Ferrying Squadron Flight Log book that has around 75 pages of entries that date from 9/25/44 to 3/5/46, a sweetheart bracelet with his name on it and a winged prop, 4 sterling wing pins that measure from 3″ down to under 1/2″. The sterling wings with the 4 props has the right pin post broken off of it but it is still embedded in the board and could be soldered back on it. The frame these item are in is a little rickety and not the best.
