His Colt Model 1908. These are Whisner’s post war ribbon bars. The portrait of Whisner came from a Chinese book resulting in poor resolution of the photo. Whisner was an advisor to Chiang Kai Shek at one point in his career. Whisner’s bio is after the description of the second ribbon bar. Please note I have had the clutches off the ribbon bars and were not put back on in the correct order. US Army narrow Wolf Brown plastic ribbon bar. Ribbon bar is clutch back. Has awards for the Bronze Star Medal, WWI Victory Medal, WWI Army of Occupation Medal. Note in Whisner’s photo these may be the same ribbons. Has ribbons for the American Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, Pacific Theater Medal with 2 bronze stars, and WWII Victory Medal. BG Emons Bertram Whisner, 24 Aug 1895-27 Sep 1984. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1917. He was comissioned a 2Lt Infantry in 1917. There is no indication he served overseas during the war. He was on the island during the Pearl Harbor attack on 7 Dec 1941. He was executive Officer MAAG where he served as advisor to Chiang Kai Shek. He retired from active duty 31 July 1953. He attained the rank of BG Jan 45, reverted to Colonel March 46, retired as a Brigadier General in 1953. Decorations include the Legion of Merit with OLC, Bronze Star Medal, and Chinese Order of Hun Hai. The Army Register for 1958 lists a basic award of the LOM and the BSM has the OLC. In the 1959 Army Register the LOM has the OLC and the BSM is only a basic award. He is buried, along with his wife, in the Little Rock National Cemetery, Arkansas. He was endorsed in 1936 by Franklin D. The correspondence can be found in Franklin D. 1936 at FDR’s Presidential Library. This information can be found in Air Force reports. Ribbon bars show normal wear/tear associated with age. They are the plastic Wolf Brown narrow army type and in my opinion are in very good condition for age. Normal wear and tear associated with age.
