For sale are a WW2 British Royal Eletrical Mechanical Engineers Trench Art Jewellery Box Which is in good condition (however there is one pip missing on the right hand side which can be easily replaced). This Jewellery/ cigar box is decorated with ww2 period royal electrical mechanical engineers cap badges, collar badges, royal army ordnance corps beret badge, officers crown pipe and rank pips. This is a nice unusual piece. Trench art is any decorative item made by soldiers, prisoners of war, or civilians where the manufacture is directly linked to armed conflict or its consequences. It offers an insight not only to their feelings and emotions about the war, but also their surroundings and the materials they had available to them. This is a nice unusual pieces of trench art!

A Second World War 1940 Full Size MC group of three attributed to Major Jessop, Royal Leicestershire Regiment for his actions and bravery in Norway, He was captured and taken prison of war Military Cross, G. The original recommendation states on the evening of 22. April 1940, this officer was ordered to build a road block and hold it for four hours two miles north of Oia. Before the task was completed his platoon came under heavy machine gun fire at short range. In spite of casualties, the. Was repulsed and the position held. At the time ordered for his withdrawal, the enemy had penetrated both flanks. Through his coolness examples and fine leadership, he succeeded in re-joining the battalion some eight hours later. Ian Gray Jessop was commissioned second lieutenant in the Royal Leicestershire Regiment on 22. July 1939 and served with them in Norway during the early stages of the Second World War. Captured and taken prisoner of war he was held in Oflag 7B Prisoner of war camp. Repatriated following the cessation of hostilities he was advanced major on 2. Oflag 7B prisoner of war camp also held many of the famous desert rats. Comes with some research history. A fine medal set from my own collection.
