Here’s a fantastic chance for someone to own a superb little grouping all to one man. I can confirm that I know his name and number, but don’t now about his RAF service or where he lived etc. He also joined the St Johns ambulance after the war and had something to do with West Riding county fire service. His St Johns ambulance number is A176305. Everything in the grouping either belonged to or was earned by Mr Newton. An original portrait photograph or Mr Newton in his RAF dress uniform during WW2. 1939 – 1945 medal. His WW2 RAF cap badge – missing split clip. The St Johns ambulance association badge – missing split clip. Year awards for servicing for the St Johns ambulance 1959, 1959 & 1957. West Riding county fire service medal – has he name engraved on the rear. As you can see this is a great little lot dedicated to one man, but the most important part is yet to be done, the researching. Which could easily add value to this grouping. Please look at my other militaria currently for sale and I add more on a regular basis. Offered is a First World War era Order of the British Empire M. Features a 48mm wide silver cross patonce on Tudor crown suspension; the face with a circular central medallion imposed with the portrait of Britannia seated, her left arm extended, a radiant sun above right, within a ring inscribed FOR GOD AND THE EMPIRE; the reverse with a circular central medallion with the crowned cipher of King and Emperor George V within a rope border, silver hallmarks for Sebastian Henry Garrard of London, dated 1919, on correct mounted ribbon. Medal comes in the original Garrard & Co. As most wartime M. S were awarded in 1919, this is a perfect oppurtunity to fill the gap in your missing medal group or have as a stand alone wartime award piece. The Order was instituted by King George V on 4 June 1917 in five grades to acknowledge the service of non-combatants during wartime. In 1918 the Order was divided into Civil and Military divisions. This example is of the first type with Britannia on the face; since 1935, the Order has had the head and shoulders portraits of King George V and Queen Mary facing left on the face. Today the Order is awarded for distinguished service in any sphere of activity and honorary awards may be made to foreigners. We list militaria and coins weekly.
