I have been collecting WW1 & WW2 militaria for over 25 years and have collected cabinets full and piles of items from small to large! I have a few of these WW1 trench/duck boards and its time to sell one off. So here is what I call a’junk’ example, it really was made from scrap wood, anyone who tells you that these were all made to a specific size and plan hasn’t a clue what they are talking about! I have seen plenty of originals to tell that they are all slightly different. Mainly as they are made by thousands of different men, from different units, given different tools and supplied with different batches of wood. Resulting in various different styles as can clearly be seen when you examine multiple photographs closely. As you can see some of the boards are made from two pieces of thinner wood nailed together into the supports, some are like this and some aren’t, using what ever was to hand, as nobody then knew that these would be desirable and they sure as hell were not made to last 100 years! Even the support beams are made from multiple pieces of wood, despite this being one of the most crudely made examples I have, it is certainly one of the sturdiest! It won’t take herds of people running over it, but it will display really nicely if you have the room! It is the height of those IKEA display cabinets that almost all collectors have, so easy to put next to, or even behind depending on what you have displayed inside. If you have any questions I will try and answer them. Collecting in person would of course be easiest and probably cheapest, however not if you live miles away. However, you are more than welcome to organise your own courier or for someone to collect them from me. I can be around any day of the week or weekend and at any time and can wait all day if necessary. The item when wrapped in bubble wrap and surely bound up in brown tape will measure 202cm x 54cm x 15cm and weight somewhere around 10kg, maybe a little less, most couriers only want an estimate, maybe a little less. Its big, heavy and awkward! I do have some other examples of these that are really tatty and have suffered over the years from rot in places before I got hold them. I will list them separately, but will price them per plank and will cut them into manageable pieces and dispose of all the rotten bits. If interested in any small pieces then please see my other listings.
