The medals & Death Plaque are in a really nice original condition with original Ribbons attached, they comes with a copy of his service record which shows William was born in Southampton, Hampshire. WW1 DEATH PLAQUE BWM VICTORY MEDAL BOXED ENVELOPES 4th MIDDLESEX REGT. DIED of WOUND 6th MAY1917. 26830 PRIVATE ARTHUR GEORGE LIFTON. FROM 105 HIGH STREET PEMBROKE DOCKS SOUTH WALES. Arthur George Lifton, Private, 26830, Middlesex Regiment. Arthur was the son of John Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Lifton, of 105, High Street, Pembroke Dock. He enlisted at Fulham into the 4th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, which was attached to 63 Brigade, 37th Division, which moved to. They took part in the Attack on the Gommecourt Salient during the first phase of the. Of the Somme, and also fought at the. They then moved in March 1917 and took part in the First Battle of the Scarpe, where they captured Monchy le Preux. They then took part in the Second Battle of the Scarpe, and the Battle of Arleux. Arthur was wounded here, and evacuated to the. But died of his wounds there on 6 May 1917. He was 35 years old, and is buried at. Arthur is not commemorated at Pembroke Dock. WW1 bronze death plaque in memory of. With his BRITISH WAR MEDAL and VICTORY MEDAL named as issued to. Also comes with copies of his medal index card and medal roll showing that this was his full medal entitlement and that he served in the 2nd/5th Battalion Territorial Force – raised in Bury, Lancashire. James was born on 21 Jul 1893 at Radcliffe, Lancashire, to John and Martha Ann Crompton. He married Eliza in 1913 and they lived at. 53 Bank Top, Radcliffe. He worked as a’carter’. Pte Crompton died from wounds received IN ACTION from which he died. His body must have been lost because he has no known grave and is remembered on the TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING IN BELGIUM. His death was assumed as being 20 Sep 1917. WW1 bronze death plaque in memory of. In its original cardboard box of issue, with his 1914-15 STAR; BRITISH WAR MEDAL and VICTORY MEDAL, named as issued to. Comes with a good copy of the King’s Letter of Condolence that would have accompanied the plaque, and a copy of his medal index card. In superb uncleaned condition. John was born at Salford, Lancashire in 1897. In 1911 he was living at 46 Elton Street, Lower Broughton, Salford, and he was an’errand boy’. He enlisted at Manchester and served in the 2nd Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. He entered France on 17 May 1915. During the Battle of the Somme John was KILLED IN ACTION aged 19 – DEATH PRESUMED ON OR SINCE 20 JUL 1916. His body must have been lost on the battlefield as he has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme – 72337 missing soldiers are named on the Memorial.
