UNITED STATES ARMY CERTIFICATE OF MERIT MEDAL. The Certificate of Merit Medal was a military decoration of the United States Army that was issued between the years of 1905 and 1918. The Certificate of Merit Medal replaced the much older Certificate of Merit which was authorized by the United States Congress on March 3, 1847. In 1905, a medal was created for those holding a Certificate of Merit and called the Certificate of Merit Medal. This medal was authorized for wear on a United States military uniform. It was always worn following the Medal of Honor, before all campaign medals. The first recipient of the Certificate of Merit Medal was First Lieutenant William B. Baker, who was presented medal No. 1 on 30 December 1907. Baker had received an original Certificate of Merit as a Corporal during the Spanish-American War on 13 August 1898. The last act recognized by a Certificate of Merit was May 1918, when Corporal Paul Scaletta made a water rescue of soldiers in dangerous surf conditions at Ocean Beach, California. The last soldier to be awarded the Certificate of Merit Medal was George Arrington for his service while a Private with the 24th Infantry Regiment in 1889. He was awarded medal No. 361 and subsequently converted it to a Distinguished Service Cross. Do not miss it! Certificate of Merit Medal + Made in USA Medal Case. Diameter of the Medal: about 33mm. A fantastic part of US military history is not to be missed at this low listing price. It would be extremely hard to find a much better example than these medals, medals weigh a bit!! I only speak german and english, if you have any questions or problems, pls feel free to contact me at any time!

ARMY AIR CORPS (6) MINI MEDALS GROUPING. Size: 5/8″ x 2″. Attaching Device: Clutch Back. Cond:’MINT’ Used Condition, No Holes, No Tears, No Nips, No Mold, No Smell. Mini Medals Grouping From Left to Right: SOLDER’S MEDAL, AIR FORCES COMMENDATION MEDAL (With 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), AMERICAN DEFENSE MEDAL, AMERICAN CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN CAMPAIGN MEDAL (With 3 Battle Stars), WORLD WAR II VICTORY MEDAL. The Soldier’s Medal is an individual decoration of the United States Army. It was introduced as Section 11 of the Air Corps Act, passed by the Congress of the United States on July 2, 1926. The Army’ Soldier’s Medal is equivalent to the Navy and Marine Corps Medal. Air Force began issuing its own Air Force Commendation Medal in 1947 with additional awards denoted by oak leaf clusters. The American Defense Medal was a military award of the United States Armed Forces, established by Executive Order 8808, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, on June 28, 1941. The medal was intended to recognize those military service members who had served on active duty between September 8, 1939, and December 7, 1941. A similar medal, known as the American Campaign Medal, was established in 1942, for service in the American Theater during the World War II era. The European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal is a military award of the United States Armed Forces which was first created on November 6, 1942, by Executive Order 9265 issued by President Franklin D. The medal was intended to recognize those military service members who had performed military duty in the European Theater (to include North Africa and the Middle East) during the years of the Second World War. The World War II Victory Medal was established by an Act of Congress on 6 July 1945 (Public Law 135, 79th Congress) and promulgated by Section V, War Department Bulletin 12, 1945. The medal was designed by Thomas H. Jones and approved by the Secretary of War on 5 February 1946. Consequently, it did not transition from a ribbon to a full medal until after World War II had ended. The World War II Victory Medal was first issued as a service ribbon, referred to as the Victory Ribbon. Excellent Addition To Your WW2 U.
