Australian WW2 medal group of 4 with paperwork. KIA 1943 New Guinea. 1939-45 star, Pacific star, BWM and ASM. All correctly impressed SX18541 B P Barrett. Enlisted 26/5/42 at Naracoorte, SA. Served with the 2/7Bn. Killed in Action 27/8/43 New Guinea aged 23. Buried Lae War Cemetery, PNG. From the unit diary:’27 Aug 43… Arnolds Crest with its defenders had been isolated by the enemy. A Coy sent a fighting patrol to contact B Coy 58/59Bn and after nearly reaching the feature were ambushed – 2 killed, 3 wounded. A couple of light marks but basically in unworn condition. Comes with 2 original medal entitlement sheets showing full entitlement, box of issue, a photocopy from the 2/7 Bn unit diary and some photocopies from the CWGC.
