Here’s a simply stunning, and rare group of medals. As well as the medals, the original, correctly named DEATH PLAQUE, named to “HARRY BLAKELEY” IS also present, as is a small’Tribute Medal, from the City of Heidelberg, (A suburb of Melbourne) professionally engraved “H BLAKELEY”. As seen in the pictures, there is a lovely, large and detailed ph. Otograph of a group of soldiers pre-war in the’Melbourne. The officer in the group, 2nd It. Joseph Rupert Balfe, wears the cap badge of this regiment. Balfe was KIA on 25th April as well. Blakeley is second from left, front row, next to the Lieutenant. A plaque at the bottom of the picture identifies all men in the group. Of this group of 11, all of whom joined the 6th Battalion AIF, four were KIA on the day of the Landing (25th April 1915), two were. BLAKELEY, aged 20 years, was the son of Harry Blakeley (Snr) and Annie Blakeley (deceased) both of 93 ARTHUR St, Fairfield Park, Victoria. These original KIA groups – particularly complete groups, with death plaques, tribute medals, AND’great’ photos, are very hard to find. Professionally framed, measurements are 840mm by 610mm. See my good feedback, (750-plus). Ocated in East Malvern Victoria. I post at cost.
