For sale is a pair of medals named to 2. John Reginald hall was killed in action on. 10 July 1916 at the Somme. He was serving in the 15th battalion of the Welsh regiment. I found the following tribute on the internet some years ago viz : Hall, John Reginald, second lieutenant, John was the youngest son of captain and mrs Edward hall of 17 , Richmond road, Cardiff. He was educated at the cathedral school, Llandaff, and at Felsted and was subsequently in the employment of messrs T. John enlisted in the Monmouthshire regiment in September 1914, rising to the rank of sergeant before obtaining his commission in the 20th Welsh in August 1915. He was posted to the 15th Welsh on 7 June 1916, joining the battalion at Heilly in the Somme Valley. John was killed during the terrible fighting within Mametz Wood on 10 July 1916 aged just nineteen and, as happened with so many of his fellow Welshmen that day, John has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. His medals, the British war and victory were claimed by his father at the above address.
